How it works: The TimberSmart IT system designs pack strap and cut configurations in the office. This data is embedded into the barcode on each pack. At infeed, two scanners capture the data: one before the strapper and one before the pack saw. The scanners relay the data to the strapper, ensuring the correct bearer placement and strap position for each pack.
After strapping, the system automatically updates the mill inventory to reflect the new status and dimensions. Packs destined for the saw originate from the strapped output or from in-process stock. The barcode carries the precise cut sequence, which the saw control uses to apply the correct sequence automatically.
The inventory system is updated in real time as each cut is executed.
